Marc Anderson
MA, LMHC, CMHS, MBA
I am a licensed mental health counselor with a master’s degree from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology (2012-2015).
I am passionate about helping others find their voice, improve their relationships, and step into hard areas of life that are often neglected in our fast-paced world. I provide a comfortable space to offer support in finding new ways of engaging old problems that often plague us in our human journey.

My beginning years as a therapist were spent in community mental health at Sound (Child & Family Services) working with families, children, and teens. I was a school-based therapist and met with students during their school day. I also worked with families to process chaos in their family systems and helped them engage each other in kinder ways. This experience highlighted the importance of parenting on kids, modelling healthy ways of engaging relationships, and working with students on peer-to-peer engagements at school and with friends.
I also worked at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology as a practicum facilitator in therapy groups for therapists in training. I met with each student individually to discover what happens in the group that is related to roles and patterns they grew up with etc. Growing up in our families ends up having an impact on us as adults and the roles that we play out due to what was expected of us in early years. I highly value the work of exploring the past and uncovering themes that reoccur in the present.
Another unique experience was working in a preschool setting on an army base (JBLM) with young children of military servicemen and women. This job was helpful in learning more about what children go through developmentally at specific stages. This experience serves me today working with clients when it comes to talking about early childhood attachments and their importance/implication later in life.

On a personal note, I spent formative years (ages 10-19) in Guadalajara Mexico. As a third-culture-kid (TCK), I experienced the unique challenges of living in a foreign country during developmental years, losing a sense-of-self due to the new culture, and then having reverse culture shock to return home and feel the loss of voice/identity. It is extremely difficult to live between worlds and to not fit in with either a home culture or the culture away from home. Growing up in Mexico also gave me an appreciation for other cultures and insight into how unique and complex all of us are. I have travelled to roughly 25 countries and I lived in Australia for a year.
